I'm Thankful for Hauge's Doodliage and the Future

That's right fella's, we're back with a new banner from none other then Brian Hauge.  He sent in this "guts" banner.  Pure brilliance and endless creativity courtesy of Brian Hauge.  Check it.  

Also it should be noted that Graphic Content will only get awesome-r in the coming months.  We got some stuff to share with you and some crazy additions to Graphic Content!  Now that Fresh Produce (and ergo, Graphic Content) is in a new space, we have sub-leasers.  And two of those sub-leasers are bona fide artists: Liz Bashore Heeren and Mary Groth!  Holy heck, right?  So now when you loyal readers of GC don't send anything in, I'm just going to take a picture of their canvas and whatever is on it is going to be posted!  We will also be having tons of chalk board surfaces in our space, ergo much doodliage will be had weekly.  If an stupid great doodle should grow on one of those wonderful slate surfaces, that will be posted too.  How awesome is that?  How great is that?

So stay tuned.

Some Old Stuff from Hauge

What do we do here at Graphic Content when nobody sends stuff in to post?  We go to their blogs/websites and rip pieces straight off their site!  So here's some fun stuff we saw Brian Hauge doing at brianhauge.com.  Hauge's been taking current pictures and adding some PSD trickery here and there to create some "Depression-Era" photos.  I get a kick out of it and would love to know the secret recipe of layers and filters to get such authentic looking antiquary.

Another GC page 2

When it can't make the front page, it makes "Page 2"

First off, get out and vote.  Pronto.

Secondly, today's banner is courtesy of Brian Hauge.  He told us he was inspired by our current economic situation, reminiscent of the 30's era Depression.  Wow, Brian, thanks for setting the mood.  Just kidding!  (But seriously...)  Really, I dig it.  It's a fun effect.  Nice!  More of Brian's great work can be found at brianhauge.com.

Finally, unless anybody can prove us wrong, Think Tank's most recent project "the Pond" has come to a close.  We haven't seen any more buttons on Phillips and all the free ones at Michelle's have been "swagged" away.  Rest in peace Pond.  So.... what's next Think Tank?

Or is it 32?  8-bit?  I can never tell.  This little beauty here is courtesy of Brian Hauge.  Wildlife plus Nintendo equals straight up isometric pixel awesomeness.  Nice work Hauge.  How do you do that?  Love the MGS exclamation point.

Hauge gives us more Sasquash and... poetry?

Yes Brian Hauge is here with his own interpretation of the Hot Harvest Night Sasquash.  Part beast, part Sasquash, HotHot Sasquash is very much into poetry.  Will we see the Sasquash perform some Frost?  Some ee cummings?  Maybe a little Hughes?  Dickinson?  Or maybe some original slam poetry?!?!  I guess you'll just have to go to Hot Harvest Nights on Oct 3rd to find out...

Interpretations of the Midwest...

Way back yonder a couple weeks ago I posted a masterwork of mine about my journey West River.

Brian Hauge of Fenstalker Studios replied saying he had done a similar work in Photoshop of his interpretation of North Dakota.

Nicely done, sir.  Photoshop painting and Corel Painter?  I wonder what he could do with an actual brush...

But it appears we have both been out done by Augustana College's Artist in Residence Robert Aldern and his magnificent oil landscapes.

Hey folks,

I think the reign of the Curmudgeon Cloud is over.  Thinks have calmed down here and it's time to bring back that wonderful local art you all crave and except to see here at Graphic Content.

That being said, let's get to it, eh?

This Monday we have a 3D piece (!!) from Brian Hauge.  I, as with all of Hauge's work, dig it.  Is there anything you don't do?  This unfinished Sculpey sculpture was described in Brian's email as "a dragon or a t-rex I think", which I think is the best description for a piece we've had here.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

...with another digital painting done in Corel Painter X.  Freelance designer, illustrator, and general visual virtuoso Brian Hauge of Fenstalker Studios created this image from the prompt "canned" as part of illustrationfriday.com.  As before, I get a huge kick out of Hauge's work.  Well sculpted, well visualized, and so awesome, one might even call it ultra.
