We're not sure how Graphic Content has existed for almost a full year without any posts about my long time friend, Kat Burdine. A recent art major graduate from Augustana College, Burdine has been in Honduras for the past several months helping out a group called the Organization for Youth Empowerment (OYE). Burdine has been doing a number of different things down there and she recently sent art from a booklet she's been working on.
She sent this little blurb to accompany it:
"OYE created this 4 x 6 booklet (originally produced in Spanish) to show students that they are not powerless in their communities and that they are catalysts for change. The booklet was distributed locally to attract and inform community youth and raise local support. It was translated into English to raise international awareness of the social challenges that exist in Honduras."
OYE is a great organization, give 'em a gander. And Kat Burdine has an amazing amount of artistic skills. This piece could've been real run-of-the-mill but Kat put some great touches into it. We're going to be posting more of her graphic stuff in the coming week and, maybe, she's going to be drawing on our chalkboards soon. She just said she'd see me in 3 days, so I guess she's going to be here (?). Crazy. Kat.
